COVID got you down? Not Rotarians..
It has been over 6 months since COVID changed the way we do everything. The Rotary Club of Winnipeg West has adapted and thrived while continuing on with our legacy of caring and kindness in the community and around the world.
COMMITMENT TO SERVICE ABOVE SELF
Contributing to the betterment of our community and world by supporting causes
with an emphasis on allowing youth to reach their full potential.
Rotarians are sociable people. We love our in-person weekly meetings and have had to move them on-line. We want to be out there in our community doing the good work that Rotarians are known for. So, has a world-wide global pandemic slowed us down? Not by much...
Club president Mildred Turner loves to grow food in her garden and to cook. She hates to see anyone go hungry especially kids.
“Food is more essential than clothes”
- Sicilian proverb
How we have continued to support our local community in 2020:
Winnipeg Harvest – We have donated over $2,000.00 to help feed the hungry
Chicken for Kids – We provided a school in need with a chicken lunch
Breakfast Program – We started and funded a breakfast program at a Westend elementary school
International emergency food Relief program – We worked with the Chapala Sunrise club to help feed thousands in Mexico, Lake Chapala region affected by COVID.
We even managed to safely run our yearly fundraiser “Chicken Fest” to raise funds for the Children's Rehabilitation Foundation.
We donated $10,000 to The Children's Rehabilitation Foundation. Their vision is for all children to have the support required to realize their abilities.
All this and we still have two months to go. Come and join us, and make a difference in our community and around the world.
