The Rotary Club of Winnipeg West acknowledges that our meetings, held virtually or in-person, are held on Treaty One lands. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Inuit, Metis, and First Nations Peoples and their cultures and rights.
We recognize that the clean water we are drinking is sourced from the Shoal Lake 40 First Nation.
President Bob's Day Off
Bob was unable to make today's meeting, so Bruce stepped in as today's chair. As you can see from the following meeting recap, the word must have gotten out. We only had a small crowd show up. Does ten make a crowd?
John Unger led the group in the singing of Oh Canada & Rotary Grace.
August 7 - Meeting Program
Caleb Chapnik - Caleb's Excellent Adventure
Well, not much to report. Our speaker didn't show up today, so instead we enjoyed the great fellowship of our peers. Both Dan & Jack escaped the duties of introducing and thanking the speaker, and we're sure they would love to take on these duties again in the future.
Terry Dick received a day off from taking notes.

Remember Felix Bonn? He was our exchange student many years ago. Felix has made a point of keeping in touch with past-president Kathy Lanthier and was in town this week to visit Kathy. As Kathy says "It has been 28 years since Felix was my exchange student and he figures that this is his 12th visit back. The last 3 visits have been with his family." and Kathy adds ".... he is like one of my sons." Thanks for sharing Kathy!

Last week we failed to acknowledge Jack Peterson's birthday; and it was on the actual meeting day, July 31st; how did that happen? Yesterday, August 6th was Bob Fosters birthday. Not sure if that's why Bob was away today? While we offered to sing for Jack, he asked that we defer the singing until both he & Bob were in attendance so that they could share in the birthday celebrations (presents at your discetion).

Ernie was our finesmaster today and successfully extracted happy bucks and fines based on a quiz about the first three issues of the new WestWind. Good job!
