The Rotary Club of Winnipeg West Scores A Membership Hat-trick!

With the recent addition of its newest member, the Rotary Club of Winnipeg West (RCWW) is pleased to welcome a third generation of the same family to our Club. In the early 1960’s Don McKenzie joined RCWW and his Rotary career spanned almost six decades until his death in 2018. Don served on a number of RCWW committees and boards over the years and perhaps his greatest Rotary legacy was his work in the establishment of the Golden Rainbow Fund (GRF). The GRF is RCWW’s Permanent Endowment Fund managed by the Winnipeg Foundation. The capital in the fund stays invested and our investment income from the fund allows RCWW to invest in a variety of worthy community projects.

In 1996, Don McKenzie sponsored son Bruce McKenzie as the second-generation McKenzie to join RCWW. Following in Don’s footsteps, Bruce has also served on a number of committees and boards over the years with his most notable contribution being with the club’s largest annual fundraiser, Chicken Fest, which committee Bruce has chaired numerous times over the year. Bruce is also currently the chair of the Golden Rainbow Fund committee.

In the summer of 2021, Bruce recommended and sponsored daughter Pam McKenzie for membership in the RCWW. Pam is a communications professional currently employed in the field of public engagement. Pam’s early involvement with RCWW includes her work with the District Conference Committee as it prepares for the 2022 annual District Conference.
